New Business Sales Manager

The New Business Sales Manager is responsible for identifying; assessing and on-boarding new business opportunities across the UK in order meet and surpass set business growth goals. Along with the Head of Business Development, the role will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities (channel, sub channel and product driven opportunities) and then assessing and prioritizing these new business growth opportunities. The New Business Sales Manager will then identify appropriate partners (brokers, dealers, new product partners), meet and engage with these potential partners, design appropriate commercial agreements and deliver new business to Moneybarn operations.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of motor sector awareness and exceptional sales expertise, coupled with an ability to gather relevant information, which will inform and help prioritize competing business opportunities by focusing on commercial returns.

The successful candidate will also be able to; engage in individual and group strategic thinking; demonstrate an ability to gather and analyse appropriate information ( for example new untapped product opportunities); and then, just as importantly, follow through by making contact with suitable partners to drive Moneybarn favorable agreements/ outcomes. A recent example of Moneybarn product enhancement is one where we now finance light commercial vehicles as well as cars. There is an opportunity to identify suitable LCV partners and pursue them in order to close commercially advantageous deals which will drive both volume and profit.

NB: The role will be largely field based  - expectation is a minimum of 3 days in the field each week

Job Responsibilities
  • Involved in New Business strategy along with Commercial Director and Head of Business Development
  • Owns collation of internal and external data in order to support a business case for new opportunities
  • Prioritizing opportunities along with Head of Business Development and then owning the creation of a tactical plan to pursue these opportunities
  • Developing detailed action plan and ongoing updating of the plans path to completion together with actual results
  • Work with the wider channel team to create a truly joined up and efficient multi-channel approach to customer acquisition
  • Working with the brand team to ensure that all internal brand rules are applied to any acquisition activity
  • Working with the Legal and Compliance teams to ensure that all regulatory requirements and company policies are adhered to in the pursuit of new opportunities

  • Converting strategy into results: Ability to understand our central business model and apply this successfully within new business development
  • Comfortable working within a regulated environment with set processes and procedures
  • Ability to prioritise opportunities in order to deliver the most impactful outcomes relative to available resource and budget
  • Enjoys being part of a wider acquisition team – specifically in relation to other acquisition channels such as our broker and digital channels
  • Drives tasks and activities through to completion ie a “finisher/completer”
  • Good communication skills, both written & spoken
  • Curious and innovative by nature whist remaining practical and realistic in planning and execution
Essential skills:
  • Sales skills and strong commercial acumen
  • Strategic Sales skills, particularly in strategic planning and analysis.
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills
  • Data gathering skills i.e. industry intelligence
  • Ability to refine this information, work within a small team to decide strategy and sell to appropriate UK based partners
  • Motor sector experience
  • Experience operating in a highly regulated environment
Desirable skills:
  • Formal Sales qualifications
  • Financial Services sector experience
