Routes for the keen biker and the best cafés along the way

  1. The Cat & Fiddle
  • Route: Macclesfield to Buxton
  • Road(s): A53, A54 and A537
  • Distance: 12 miles

Because of its hills and many bends, The Cat & Fiddle is regarded as one of the most exciting and technically challenging rides for bikers. However, watch out as it’s also one of the most dangerous roads in the UK.

If you find yourself on The Cat & Fiddle, make sure you stop at The Winking Man for a proper biker’s breakfast and the chance to meet with other bike enthusiasts.

  1. Fish Hill
  • Route: Evesham to Moreton-in-Marsh
  • Road(s): A44
  • Distance: 15 miles

Winding downhill through the Worcestershire countryside, Fish Hill is a biker’s dream. At the top, look out for miles around over open fields and then head downhill to navigate the many twists and turns below.

Stop at The Trumpet Inn to recharge before heading back out on the hills.

  1. Horseshoe Pass
  • Route: Llangollen to Pentre-bwlch
  • Road(s): A542
  • Distance: 7 miles

Rising to 1,200ft, the Horseshoe Pass snakes up the mountainside through the North Wales Hills. Boasting a backdrop of slate and green carpeted hills, you’re offered amazing views once you hit the top.

The Ponderosa Café marks the peak, making it the perfect stop to eat before your descent. A famous spot for bikers, the only thing likely to top the amazing scenery is the variety of bikes that can be seen!
