It was recently reported that there have been several incidents involving Vauxhall Zafiras catching fire through the glove box. Vauxhall issued an alert and carried out an investigation, and have subsequently said that they will be writing to all affected Zafira owners to invite them for a free inspection of their vehicle’s heating and ventilation system. They will also replace any parts necessary at no extra cost to the customer and will return the vehicle to them in a safe operating condition.

The model affected is the Zafira B model built between 2005 and 2014, all right-hand drive with manual air conditioning (models with electric climate control are not affected). In a statement Vauxhall said “Our investigations have found that a number of incidents have occurred due to previous repairs being performed improperly or using certain non-genuine parts. The safety of our customers is our number one priority. Our investigations so far have found that a number of incidents have occurred due to previous repairs being performed improperly or using certain non-genuine parts”.
