When you think of the standard police UK car you will generally think of the good old Volvoestate or Skoda Octavia, but it appears times are changing. Whilst these cars are still used to catch speeding criminals,  our counterparts from around the world opt for something a little bit more exotic.

Avon and Somerset constabulary have a new addition in the form of an 350HP Ariel Atom 3.5R to support in safe rider campaign, this aims to reduce accidents and deaths amongst motorcyclists this summer.

The Italians however; have gone for something a little bit faster, the police force have opted for a 5.2 Litre V10-engined Lamborghini Huracan with a speed of 202mph plus, the criminals will need something a little Nippier to get away from these boys in blue.

Our friends in the United Arab Emirates, have gone for a Ferrari FF to add to the already used Lamborghinis, making a very impressive fleet of supercars to track down the speeders.  This has four seats, and a 6.2 V12 putting out 650hp and easily achieves 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 208mph.

In Germany we have an altogether different car. This little BMW bubble car has a top speed of 53 mph and so wouldn’t be too useful for catching people who are speeding on the Autobarns.

The Romanian police are always met with crowds of people when this Lotus Evora come out to play, with it’s 3.5 Litre V6 engine it’s definitely a head turner.

Which one would you go for? From the fastest to the quirkiest, the traditional Volvo and Skoda’s of this world might not be such a bad shout after all.
