Skoda UK has record sales month

Skoda UK have enjoyed a record sales month in April with a total of six thousand two hundred sales and with worldwide deliveries in April alone rocketing to 89,000. Skoda’s Head of Sales, Werner Eichhorn, believes that the attractive and young model range is inspiring more and more customers.

A huge hit- but why?

The new Skoda Octavia has proved to be a huge hit in particular, recording a record increase in sales by around a third. Deliveries of the Skoda Octavia even rose by almost 60% in Western Europe resulting in it being voted Best Large Family Car at the recent Honest John Awards 2014. Contributions to achieving this award could be the huge amount of luggage space (590 litres in total). The car itself has also been awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests due it’s fantastic active safety systems which are normally only available on higher cross vehicles. The safety features include a front Assistant with emergency brake function, the Lane Assistant, keeping the Octavia in lane, multi collision brakes with automatic brake intervention during an accident, a crew Protect Assistant to safeguard the vehicle in accidents and the Driver Activity Assistant to recognise drive fatigue.

What’s next?

Over the coming months, Skoda plans to continue the most comprehensive model campaign in corporate history with new models. Later this month, the new Skoda Octavia G-TEC, the first Octavia to run on natural gas, will be celebrating its premiere. Skoda says that this new model can travel up to 255 miles on gas alone, with an extra 572-mile range when on petrol power, giving a range of some 826 miles.

Conscious of your Carbon Footprint?

CO2 emissions are put at 97g/km, while Skoda quotes official consumption figures of 5.4 cubic metres of natural gas per 100km which is equivalent to just 3.5kg of fuel! Meaning that your tax disc will cost you a thumping £0. All in all, a great car!
