Buying a new car is an exciting time. Like a child in a toy store, you have so much choice it can sometimes be hard to pick the perfect one for you. The important thing to remember is not to rush, getting a new car is a big purchase and shopping around can make all the difference.

To make the whole shopping process a little bit easier for you, we’ve put together a handy list of our favourite online resources for those buying a car. Although looking around at your local car lot is an option, looking online can give you more opportunities. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the huge amount of online destinations selling cars and it’s a great way to find good prices.

#1 Autoebid

Autoebid is a little different to a normal auction site, a ‘reverse auction’ if you might. You simply log on, put in the details of the car you want, agree a maximum price you will pay and then wait for the bids to come in.

Dealers bid on the price they can sell that car to you for, so you don’t actually bid on the car, they bid on you. Once you’re happy with the bids you can then pick the dealer you like the most (based on a rating). The dealer will then contact you for a deposit and to arrange pick up and pay the remaining balance on delivery. So simple, and it can save you quite a bit of money!

#2 Autotrader

A modern classic, Autotrader was the go to magazine when you were buying a car before the internet. Now they’re online and are still an amazing resource. They class themselves as an ‘online car buying assistant’ because although people use the website to find a car online, they actually complete the transaction offline.

Every 60 seconds someone decides to sell on Auto Trader, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. The website is easy to navigate, allowing you to put in your postcode the distance you’re willing to travel and then choose your desired make and model and start searching. Once you’ve found the one for you simply contact the dealer (make sure you pick a dealer rather than a private seller) and then arrange a viewing.

#3 Broadspeed

Looking for a brand new car? Broadspeed is the website for you! It’s an online discount buying service that has helped more than 50,000 UK buyers get the best deals on their cars. They act as an introducer (not a car broker). You tell them what car you’re interested in and they approach dealers and negotiate the best new car deals and then put you and the seller together.

Buying a car online has never been easier with all of these online resources. Now you’ve found the perfect place a buy one that’s where we come in.
