What sources of income do you accept?

We will always need to run an affordability check on your account to make sure that the finance we are offering you is suitable for you. Your minimum net income per month must be nothing less than £1,000 after tax for us to consider you for vehicle finance.

We accept a lot of income types, but all incomes listed below must be additional to an income from either employment or a pension. You must also be able to show proof of receiving these from the last 2 consecutive months:

  • Basic salary
  • Commission
  • Overtime (regular)
  • Income from a previous employment, if you’ve just moved jobs
  • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Dividends (as a Director)
  • Rental income
  • Paypal, if there are 8 or more payments across 2 consecutive months
  • Car allowances
  • Monthly NHS nursing bursary
  • State pension
  • Occupational pension
  • Personal pension
  • Stakeholder pension
  • War widow’s pension
  • Bereavement allowance (widow’s pension)
  • Child tac credit
  • Child benefit
  • Child maintenance payments
  • Working tax credits
  • Universal credit
  • Personal independence payments
  • Housing benefit
  • Social housing/rent
  • Carer’s allowance
  • Guardian’s allowance
  • Foster care allowance
  • Disability living allowance

There are also a range of sources of income we won’t accept:

  • one-off bonuses
  • unemployment benefit
  • expenses
  • maternity/paternity pay
  • Non-nursing bursaries
  • Student grants or awards
  • Jobseeker’s allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income support
  • Parents’ learning allowance
  • Care to learn
  • Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI)

We’ll always try to verify your income automatically by sourcing information from third parties, but in some cases, we may need more information to prove your income. If we do need to ask you for this then we’ll tell you exactly what we need during the application process.
